2. Favorite guitar

My favorite guitar as of now is probably my Mexican made telecaster. I got for Christmas of ‘08 and its 100% stock. It has plenty of dings and scars though, despite only being 3 years old, just because i tend to be rough with my guitars. I’m not nearly bad as I used to be. I used to swing it around constantly and smash the headstock on cymbals all the time.

Essentially though, I love it because Teles just have such great base tone that you can build upon in so many ways. It’s great for the barely distorted tone I go for and for the multitude of effects I use it with. It’s just so simple and perfect. I mean honestly, it’s a hunk of wood with 2 magnets, a volume and tone control (that never gets used.) No unnecessary frills, just pure awesome.

The only thing I don’t agree with would be that, I think, “amateur cartography” is just a metaphor for his poetry. The idea is that he finds a way out/a way on through writing, as though following a map. Otherwise, really solid analysis.

1. First Guitar

My first guitar was a Yamaha acoustic that I got for Christmas in 5th grade. It was pretty cheap and crappy but it got the job done. I owned it for about a year before I ever made a serious attempt to learn to play it. probably 2 years ago it fell off a stand and the headstock split in half. So, naturally, my first instinct was to smash it and light it on fire.
